Every year Mook Badhir Mandal, Vadodara observes the World
Deaf Day which falls on 30th September, 2007. Various activities and
programs will be conducted, for its deaf members, to mark this day.
We proudly inform you that two of our members – Rajesh
Ketkar and Virbhadrasinh Rathod, have become the first from Gujarat
to have made a history in 56 years. They attended the 15th World
Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) held in Madrid,
Spain from 16th to 22nd July, 2007. World Federation of the Deaf
(WFD) comes once in very four years. Deaf People across the globe
eagerly look forward to attend WFD. This time nearly 7000 people
attended the conference. The themes of the conference were "Human
rights through sign language", Up gradation of education for Deaf
and Boosting Interpreters and Technology.
During the program, Rajesh Ketkar and Virbhadrasinh Rathod
will narrate (describe) their experience with WFD and show a film on
the activities of WFD. They will screen the film documenting the
activities of WFD on World Deaf Day at C.C.Mehta Auditorium
University, Vadodara.
