Sonia distributes aid to differently-abled
Providing mobility to the physically challenged will help to integrate them into the mainstream

New Delhi: Congress president and Rajiv Gandhi foundation chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Saturday handed over devices to differently- abled persons to enable them to lead a normal life.
Hearing Aids : Besides presenting 70 motorised vehicles to physically challenged persons. Ms. Gandhi gave away hearing aids to 40 hearing impaired children.
All the recipients children were aged between three and 15 years, belong to the lower income group and reside in different areas of Delhi .
Since hearing is a prerequisite for developing normal speech, the Rajiv Gandhi foundation intends to help these children through distribution of assistive devices.
Underlying this programme is the belief that providing mobility to the physically challenged persons help to integrate them into the mainstream of society and also widens their scope to education and employment opportunities.
Through this programme, the foundation has brought hope and a promise for a brighter future to 7-- differently-abled persons .
This year's awards will help students to pursue their education, employed persons to sustain their jobs and self employed individuals to expand their business.
