Government and Taliban forces clashed in Afghanistan's southern Helmand province after the three-day ceasefire for Eid ended late on Saturday. Helmand province official Attaullah Afghan said that Taliban fighters had attacked checkpoints on the outskirts of Helmand's capital, Lashkar Gah, and in other districts. The regional government reported that 21 Taliban fighters had been killed.
