2496 - 9 die in sleep, 7 injured as house collapses amid heavy rain in Tamil Nadu

Nine people, including four children, died in their sleep after their house collapsed in Tamil Nadu's Vellore amid heavy rainfall on Friday, officials said. At least seven people were injured in the incident. Expressing condolences, Chief Minister MK Stalin said ₹5 lakh will be given as compensation to each bereaved family and those who sustained injuries will receive ₹50,000 each.
