Schools for classes 11 and 12 and degree colleges in Karnataka will reopen from February 16 (Wednesday) amid the hijab controversy. Schools till Class 10 opened on Monday but many schools asked the students to remove the hijab if they wanted to attend classes. Over 30 students in Kodagu were sent back from school after they refused to remove hijab.
As schools till class 10 opened in Karnataka, girl students and even staff members at a school in Mandya were asked to remove their hijabs at the gate before entering the premises. Some parents are seen requesting that students be allowed to wear headscarves inside the school. In other instances, students were sent back if they refused to remove hijabs.
