Belarus' Prez Lukashenko accuses opposition of plotting a coup

Belarus' President Alexander Lukashenko has accused the opposition of plotting a coup in the run-up to the last year's presidential election. However, the opposition has accused Lukashenko of rigging the vote in his favour and ordering a crackdown against his opponents. In response to the mass protests that erupted after the elections, Belarusian authorities had arrested more than 35,000 people.

A record number of migrants have entered Poland from Belarus since Friday amid tensions between the European Union (EU) and the Belarusian government over sanctions. The Polish Border Guard said that it had detained 349 illegal migrants during the same period. Neighbouring Lithuania has also witnessed a record arrival of migrants from Belarus in recent weeks for the same reason.
