Ex-French Prez Sarkozy gets 1-yr jail for illegal campaign financing

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy was on Thursday found guilty of illegally financing his unsuccessful 2012 re-election bid and sentenced to one year in jail. Prosecutors had alleged Sarkozy's party had spent nearly double the amount of money allowed under electoral law on the campaign. Sarkozy was handed a one-year prison sentence for corruption in a separate trial in March.
