India's 1st official meet with Taliban takes place in Doha, govt issues statement

Ambassador of India to Qatar, Deepak Mittal met Taliban representative Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai in Doha. "Discussions focused on safety...and early return of Indian nationals [from] Afghanistan," said government. "Ambassador Mittal raised...concern that Afghanistan's soil shouldn't be used for anti-Indian activities...Taliban...assured these issues would be positively addressed," it added.
