Pakistan gave birth to Taliban to counter India: Former Afghan envoy

Pakistan gave birth to the Taliban to counter Indian action against it, Afghanistan's former Ambassador to the UN Mahmoud Saikal tweeted, citing former Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf. "Pakistan PM Imran Khan believes the Taliban have broken the shackles of slavery," he added. "Almost all foreign members of ISIL-K and Al-Qaeda have entered Afghanistan via Pakistan," Saikal said.

Taliban leader Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai has said the militant group wants to continue Afghanistan's political, economic and cultural ties with India. "India is very important for this subcontinent," Stanekzai said. He added, "Trade with India through Pakistan is very important for us. With India, trade through air corridors will also remain open."
