6 Afghan security forces personnel killed in attack by Taliban
Taliban terrorists on Tuesday attacked a security base in Dahna-e-Ghori district of Afghanistan's northern Baghlan, killing six government forces and injuring nine others, district head Qasim Khan said. "Taliban terrorists stormed a base of security forces...triggering a heavy fighting," Khan said. The terrorists overran the base temporarily but were expelled after suffering casualties, he added.
Taliban, Afghan govt to attend peace talks in Istanbul: Turkey
The Taliban and Afghanistan's government will attend peace talks in Istanbul from April 24 to May 4, Turkey said on Tuesday. The talks are meant to end the conflict, pave the way to a "durable" political settlement and "accelerate and complement" ongoing intra-Afghan negotiations in Qatar, it added. The United Nations and Qatar will also take part in the summit.
