In a first, surgeons at NYU Langone Health in New York City attached a pig's kidney to a human patient. Surgeons attached the kidney to a pair of large blood vessels outside the body of a brain-dead recipient and observed it for two days. The kidney filtered waste and produced urine and did not trigger rejection, doctors said.
