2498 - Andhra Pradesh CM conducts aerial survey of flood-hit areas


Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in the Chittoor and YSR districts on Saturday. The CM further directed the authorities to provide financial assistance to the flood-hit households and assist them in returning to their homes. More than 25 people have died following incessant rainfall in Andhra Pradesh, as per reports.

A police constable of SDRF lost his life after he drowned while saving villagers stranded in the floods in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, the state police said. According to a report, the constable successfully rescued a father-son duo but drowned as his life jacket detached during the operation. The death toll in the floods climbed to 24 on Saturday evening.

The main rail and road routes in Andhra Pradesh remained cut off following damage caused by floods after heavy rainfall, as per reports. The Chennai-Kolkata National Highway-16 was closed down for traffic in SPS Nellore as the route was flooded in Padugupadu. At least 17 express trains were cancelled on Chennai-Vijayawada grand trunk route due to the flooded railway track.
