A report by the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) stated that 45 journalists and media professionals were killed across 20 countries in 2021. As per the IFJ, this is one of the lowest death tolls ever since the IFJ began publishing annual reports. The report stated that the Asia-Pacific region reported 20 killings followed by the Americas with 10 deaths.
