Afghan Prez Ghani leaves country for Tajikistan as Taliban enter Kabul: Report

Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani has left the country for Tajikistan as Taliban insurgents entered Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Sunday, Reuters reported quoting a senior interior ministry official. Earlier, it was reported that Taliban fighters were reaching Afghanistan's capital Kabul "from all sides". Hours ago, a video message from Ghani said that security forces had control of the city.

US President Joe Biden on Saturday deflected the blame for the situation in Afghanistan on former President Donald Trump, saying, "When I came to office, I inherited a deal cut by my predecessor (Trump)." The deal "left the Taliban in the strongest position militarily since 2001" and imposed a deadline on US troops for May 21 this year, he added.
