Sri Lanka on Monday inked an agreement with the state-run China Development Bank for a loan of $500 million. "China as a loyal friend...has been generously extending its helping hand to Sri Lanka when difficult challenges confronted us," the Sri Lankan embassy in China said. "This...loan was a part of the $1 billion loan (signed before)," it added.
